  1. John Lowell Says:

Well, you certainly have the future with Jesse Ventura sized-up properly. Are we too early in identifying Ventura as the Alan Keyes of the Ron Paul movement? Lets hope that nightmare passes. And your pessimism as to whether the Paul thing will survive Paul and 2008 is well taken. History would almost require the presence of a identifiable personality at the head of any such “movement” for it to have meaningful impact in the future. That was certainly the case with Teddy Roosevelt and the Bull Moose Progressives, Bob La Follette, Henry and George Wallace and Ross Perot. So a Paul “movement” without Paul would seem at best problemmed, all of which points us to Paul’s poorly considered choice of eschewing an independent candidacy. All his continued presence in the Republican Party now serves to demonstrate is his pitiful obscurity, either that or something rather more self-centered.
