I’m afraid I see this as becoming one of Stone’s lesser political works. It’s just too soon for this thing. I thought “Nixon” was great, but Stone had 20 years or so to evaluate his subject matter and put it into context. Not so with “W.” Too hurried, I fear.
I liked “Nixon,” too. I’m cautiously optimistic about “W.” It actually seems about right to film a movie about Bush in one-twentieth the time it takes to make one about Nixon.
