I don’t think I can handle that threat!!!

Speaking about marsupials, do you think the Democrats have been playing possum?

After all, as best as I can tell, the Dems have been keeping their mouths pretty well shut about the prospects of withdrawl from Iraq. And now following the election we are seeing all these reports about “Start US Iraq withdrawl in 4-6 months”. I don’t recall any dates or numbers before the election. So maybe the tight lips were some kind of pre-election strategy to avoid being painted as cheese eating surrender monkeys (or was that marsupials?).

Don’t get me wrong, I would have the US troops out by next Monday. Hell they could their gear behind. ..but if the Dems have been playing possum, you wonder what else they have been keeping quiet. Maybe I am just suspicious.

As a futher aside, just as the neocons have been getting their Bart Simpson “I didn’t do it, no one saw me do it, there’s no way you can prove anything!” line rehearsed (a la the Vanity Fair article), it’s interesting that the left are brushing off their “blame America first” mantra too. After wanting US and allied forces out of Iraq, now that an actual pullout is on the cards, they are getting ready to pre-emptively excoriate the US for the presumably preordained post-withdrawl bloodbath. Well that’s one way to interpret this article recently published in Melbourne’s ‘The Age’ . See here.

It would seem to me that if the Iraqi people, who consistently tell pollsters they want the Yankees out, want a civil war there will be one or not, with or without the presence of US forces.

    Tim,

Yes, as we’ve always had to explain to Dan prior to interviews, “and if anyone tells you that you look good, start swinging”. :-)
